may you see redemption on this side of heaven

he was having a rough monday morning.  tears and temper tantrums at 10am do not make for a good start to another week of Cub Scouts.  what to do with this kid???

his smile came back slowly during coloring time. i taught him how to draw a spartan S, and asked him some questions about his family.  he said something about how he used to go to MSU basketball and hockey games before his dad left...

i asked, "where did he go?"

"to another house," he said. "it made me really sad when that happened."

this from a six year old.  already in his little life.

dear precious cub scout, you are loved.  all six years of you, and so much more.  thinking of you and all the bright, big-hearted kids of lansing who might be having a rough monday morning too.

in the words of one of my favorite songs,

"may you see redemption..
on this side
of heaven."
