another cubscout post

(these are only the ones we could bribe to get into the picture-- haha. not sure where the others are? notice only 2 are looking at the camera and smiling. typical.)

cubscouts can steal your heart, people. between "skinned knees" and snot and tears you just know they have so much to offer the world.

i think ages 5-10 are pretty golden.  so fun and silly, with dashes of seriousness and thoughtfulness thrown in there. they are usually clamoring for attention. i don't think they realize that i actually cannot watch them all do something at the same time.

but still, i feel i'm constantly giving affirmations and confirmations like:
i'm proud of you for climbing on the jungle gym. i see you throwing the ball into the basketball with all your strength. i'm sorry you're having a tough morning. i hear you call for help on the swings.

i see you, i hear you, i feel for you, i'm proud of you.
(isn't that what we all want anyways?)

they may have a hard and emotional 10 minutes here and there, but they bounce back better than most people, i think. one week two boys are arch-enemies, and the next they're playing hot potato together like it's nothing.

...and today i got in my car and drove away from these cubs for the last time, and i'm a better person because i knew them.
