no place i would rather be.

sun streams across the floor at the Cornerstone library as I wait for Sarah to finish her shift. yup, now i'm in Grand Rapids! spent a week in Flint area with my grandparents, Uncle Chuck, Aunt Carolyn, and cousins Stacy, C.J. and Cory.... and now i'm in another place once again.
Hungary.
Uganda.
Michigan.
these are all places that i've lived and that my heart loves. every place i go, God has lived His life through me. i've seen His love in these places, and it's furthered me in this journey of sanctification in Christ. each time i arrive in one of these places, it hurts. i miss where i was before, i miss the familiarity. but then, slowly, gradually [and i'm not saying i'm currently in this phase!].... i connect and grow wherever i am in the world. currently, that means Michigan.
there's a song my friend and fellow-intern Emily introduced to me this summer. it's by the Will Reagan and United Pursuit band [never heard of it!]. it's called Set a Fire. it's one of those 8 minute songs that becomes the soundtrack to your whole day and the cry of your heart as it repeats over and over again. the lyrics are simple and perfectly put into words the honest yearning of my soul as my body lives in so many places! here they are:
"There's no place I would rather be
There's no place I would rather be
There's no place I would rather be
Than here in Your love, here in Your love
So set a fire down in my soul
That I can't contain that I can't control
Cause I want more of You God, I want more of You"
and that's it! for 8 minutes, over and over. and my heart says "YES!" because honestly
there's no place i would rather be than here in your love, Jesus. more than i want to be in
Hungary right now with my parents and sister and dog in the familiarity of my own house,
i want to be in Jesus' love. more than i want to be in Uganda right now with all those beautiful
kids whose huge hearts of life and joy outgrow their bodies, i want to be in Jesus' love. so now
i'm in Michigan again on the brink of another semester and adventure in college. and God's
gonna use it big time! not to mention that i'm here in your love, Jesus.
