i would read all the time if i could.

i found this book on amazon because it was under the category of "readers also bought..." of another book i liked.
i am just about to start the last chapter on stress, but this book has been AAA-MAZING.  and by that i mean challenging, uncomfortable, awkward, cringe-worthy, and" hahaha" funny!
it's written in blog-like format, documenting the seven months as they happen where the author chose to give up certain "excesses" for 7 months.  i don't know why i put that in quotes--they really are excesses.
for example: for food, she only ate 7 items of food all month long.
basically, it's disgusting how much stuff we have in this part of the world.  it's also completely unnessesary.
my first take away from this book has been to clean out my ridiculously-stuffed closet and give stuff away.  and not just the stuff that doesn't fit--also the stuff that i honestly do not wear but never give away.
it's about sacrifices... which, in the broad picture, aren't really sacrifices at all.
i'm still reading this one too.  this is written by my roommate's mom's student's mom. :)
i love it!  it's about finding community and just living life together intentionally.  it's less about the program and more about what it looks like to honestly forgive, share hospitality, and form friendships in a world that promotes individualism and putting yourself first.  it hits on something that i've been thinking about and yearning for for a long time:  rich, deep community.

...

ok, time for class! have a wonderful day, people.
